Single Skin Oil Tanks

Single-Skinned Oil Tank:

  • Construction: A single layer of material  (plastic)  contains the oil.
  • Leak Protection: Minimal protection; if the tank fails or is punctured, oil can leak directly into the environment.
  • Regulations: Generally suited for smaller oil storage needs (often domestic use) and in areas where the environmental risk is low. However, they may not meet regulations in many areas for larger volumes or near watercourses.
  • Cost: Less expensive than bunded tanks due to simpler construction.
  • Maintenance: Requires more regular inspections to ensure no leaks or corrosion.
