Kiln-dried hornbeam firewood is an excellent choice for burning, thanks to its high density and low moisture content. Here are some key points about it:
- Burning Efficiency: Hornbeam burns hot and produces a steady flame, making it great for heating. Its high energy content means you get more heat per log compared to softer woods.
- Low Smoke: Since it’s kiln-dried, the moisture content is significantly reduced, resulting in less smoke and creosote buildup in your chimney. This makes it a cleaner-burning option.
- Good for Cooking: Hornbeam’s mild flavor can enhance the taste of grilled or smoked foods, making it popular among barbecue enthusiasts.
- Availability: While it may not be as common as other firewood types like oak or maple, you can often find kiln-dried hornbeam through specialty firewood suppliers.
- Storage: Store it in a dry, ventilated area to maintain its low moisture content and ensure optimal burning performance.
If you’re considering hornbeam firewood for your fireplace or wood stove, it can be a great investment for efficient heating!
